For many years, I have been an internet user. I consider myself fairly skilled when it comes to "surfing the net." There is one problem, however, that plagues every internet user: "What website should I use as my homepage?" This is a very difficult question indeed. Some use search engines like Google or Yahoo! , others start with news or weather pages like MSNBC or Weather.com. Some start out with the logins for their emails, while some start with nothing at all. I spent many years trying to decide where to begin my journey on the internet. I mean, it is easy to find the end of the internet, but it is always difficult to decide where to begin.
I decided to take actions in my own hands. Instead of relying on someone else to provide me with a place to start my journey from, I would create my own. It would be my own Start Super Page or SSP! (Learn more about why everything dealing with computers has to have an acronym here) If you click here to view my start page you will see my creation thus far. It normally has a cooler background, but I had to remove it for the Internet since it is a large file. It has logins for both my ACU email and Yahoo! email, a Google search, local weather, Ebay search, movie times, driving directions, TV listings, pictures of Donna Jo, and links to the sites I visit most. Normally, the passwords for my email addresses are already input so I just have to click Log In. I have removed them here so you don't read my spam, I mean email. I have a copy of the page and the needed images saved on my computer and that is where I start my Internet experience from every day.
It is probably my favorite thing I have done with a computer. It was fairly easy to create. If you want, I can even tell you what to modify to make it store your emails username and passwords, and your local weather. Just email me. If you want it to have an email besides Yahoo! or ACU though, it takes a little more work so you might have to buy me lunch or something. It is funny how all college students can be bought off with a good meal. Anyway, I just think it is a cool thing. I hope some of you can use this or get ideas from it to make your own start page. I set it up for Donna Jo on her computer and she seems to like it. She likes changing the colors and backgrounds all the time (which is easy).
